SPORTS MASSAGE AND DEEP TISSUE

A style of therapeutic massage used to warm, manipulate and stretch the soft tissues and joints of the body. By working on both the deep and superficial muscles, the massage aims to realign the body and restore balance.

This massage can help:

  • Keep your body in balance and with good flexibility
  • Find the root cause of any imbalance or pain
  • Release deeply held, chronic patterns of tension in the body and address long term muscular issues and adhesions
  • Realign the tissues and restore balance to the musculoskeletal system so that the body can work on ‘healing’ itself
  • Realign healing muscle fibres and reduce scar tissue build-up
  • Reduce and improve postural dysfunction
  • Improve joint mobility and range of motion
  • Prevent and manage injuries and accelerate healing
  • Reduce stress and tension, whether this is because of occupational, emotional or postural overload

Anyone can benefit from a Sports Massage, whether you are an athlete, occasional exerciser or someone who has an active, busy or physically demanding lifestyle.

The massage can be a whole-body massage, or I can focus on specific areas of concern. Both the level of pressure (whether that’s a gentle or more vigorous approach) and techniques used are tailored to your needs and preferences.

WELL-BEING SWEDISH MASSAGE

A relaxing therapy, using a combination of deep tissue and Swedish massage techniques to manipulate the soft tissues of the body to restore balance and health.

Whether you choose a gentle pressure to induce deep relaxation or firm pressure to relieve stress and tension in the muscles, a therapeutic massage will leave you feeling relaxed and revived and offers numerous benefits to both mind and body. It aims to:

  • Ease tension
  • Relax muscles
  • Relieve aches and pains
  • Enhance feelings of relaxation
  • Increase energy levels
  • Improve mood, help de-stress and enhance a sense of well-being.
INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

A restorative therapy for the areas most vulnerable to stress and tension – the face, scalp and shoulders. 

It aims to help:

  • Relieve shoulder and neck stiffness
  • Provide relief from tension headaches, migraines and TMJ associated discomfort
  • Sinus problems
  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Renew energy levels
  • You feel restful and relaxed.

This massage is received seated or lying down and normally includes massage to your upper back, arms, shoulders, neck, head and face. By using a range of different massage pressures and rhythms, this therapy can be adjusted to suit everyone.

If the treatment is performed without oil, you can remain fully clothed, and I recommend wearing a lightweight top.

PREGNANCY MASSAGE

Pregnancy brings plenty of wonderful experiences and new challenges. It is a time when your body goes through rapid change and can bring with it aches, pains and discomfort as a result of changes to your posture and the extra weight of the baby.

Therapeutic and remedial massage techniques are used to help to:

  • Alleviate pregnancy-related muscle aches and pains
  • Soothe and reduce discomfort and tension
  • Decrease swelling/oedema and promote more restful sleep
  • Leave you feeling more relaxed.

The treatment takes place in a side position with your bump, knees and ankles fully supported. Far from being a generic pregnancy massage, the treatment is designed for you.

Pregnancy Massage is available from your 12-week scan until your baby arrives.

POSTNATAL MASSAGE AND 
C-SECTION SCAR RELEASE MASSAGE

Now is the time to give a little back to yourself. Your body will have experienced many changes throughout pregnancy, during labour and into the postnatal journey. Effective therapeutic and remedial massage techniques are used to support you both physically and mentally at this exhausting time. 

The aim is to help:

  • Release the muscle memory of labour, gently aid healing and help with spinal realignment
  • Free up tissues, release areas of tension and create space and movement in your body
  • Release knots and muscular tension, primarily through the back, neck and shoulders
  • Improve ‘mum posture’ and address postnatal posture imbalances
  • C-section and diastasis recovery
  • Boost circulation and relieve postnatal swelling
  • Deep relaxation
  • New mums de-stress and have some ‘me-time’!

Pregnancy and birth can have a significant impact on your abdominal muscles and pelvic floor strength which in turn can affect the way you move and breath.

C-sections can have a largely unseen effect on our bodies. After having this major surgery, your body reacts by healing the site of the incision with scar tissue, a cement-like tissue to prevent the wound from re-opening. This is great for the incision site but not so great for the surrounding tissues as the scar tissue can create adhesions and be the cause of pain, discomfort and tightness as well as impacting other areas of your body.
